The Beginning of Hogs Hollow Homestead
Our First Steps Into the Wild
Every homestead has an origin story, and ours began long before the first fence post was set or the first seed touched soil. It started in 2018, with a piece of land that was more wilderness than anything else — thick, tangled Texas brush, towering pines, stubborn hardwoods, and the kind of undergrowth that makes you question your life choices. But it was ours, and that made it beautiful.
A Forest Waiting for a Future
When we first walked the property, there wasn’t a single structure in sight. No driveway. No clearing. No hint of where a home might someday stand. Just raw land and the quiet hum of nature doing its thing.
But there was one feature that felt like a blessing straight from the land itself: a natural spring and a creek wrapping around the property. In the Texas heat, that cool water felt like a promise — a reminder that even the wildest places offer comfort if you’re willing to look for it.
From Dream to Dirt Under Our Nails
For a few years, the land sat mostly untouched while we planned, dreamed, and tried to figure out how to turn dense forest into a homestead. Every visit meant machetes, chainsaws, scratched arms, and the kind of exhaustion that somehow feels good.
By 2021, we were ready — or at least as ready as anyone can be to move onto raw land with no running water and no electricity. Most people would call that crazy. We called it the beginning.

Moving Onto the Land
Pulling onto the property that first day felt surreal. We weren’t just visiting anymore. We were home — even if “home” at the time meant hauling water, relying on generators, and learning to live with nature in a way most people never experience.
Nights were dark, quiet, and full of stars. Mornings were crisp and smelled like pine. And every day brought a new challenge, a new lesson, and a new reason to fall in love with the place we now call Hogs Hollow Homestead.
Why We Started This Journey
We didn’t choose this life because it was easy. We chose it because it was real. Because there’s something deeply grounding about building a life from the soil up — about shaping a home with your own hands and watching the land slowly transform alongside you.
This was just the beginning. The first chapter. The moment the dream stopped being a dream and became our daily reality.
And if the start was this wild, we can’t wait to see what comes next.
